Contemporary hospitality in Pompeii, between memory and vision

A restyling project that blends neoclassical suggestions with contemporary atmospheres, in the heart of the most authentic Pompeii.

Just a few steps from one of the main entrances to the archaeological site of Pompeii stands Hotel Vittoria, a historic hotel dating back to the late 19th century.

The restyling project, designed by architect Tiziana Vitiello, aimed to restore centrality to this decorative and architectural heritage by enhancing its historical elements through a contemporary design language.

The intervention involved twenty-six rooms and three suites, as well as corridors and terraces, with the aim of creating an environment where guests can enjoy an authentic experience, inspired by the location and connected to its memory.

The concept arises precisely from the dialogue between space and identity. At a time when contextual awareness is essential to interior design, the architect intended to reveal what time and functional renovations had concealed: decorations, geometries and atmospheres that speak of archaeological Pompeii, of neoclassical 19th century, and of the earliest European cultural tourism.

The wallcoverings by Glamora contributed to visually shaping and deepening this narrative of layers.

They are co-protagonists in a project that does not simply decorate, but interprets and tells a story. Surfaces become expressive elements capable of generating emotion and creating an intimate connection between place and visitor.

In the suites, the Trigarium and Dioscuri wallcoverings from the Arcadia Collection were selected.

Here, the references to classical antiquity are evident and rich in symbolism, with the use of deep colours such as Pompeian red and avio blue, evoking frescoes, mosaics and myths that inhabit the collective imagination of the ancient city. The narrative power of these subjects transforms the spaces into unique settings, welcoming the traveller and projecting them into a dimension suspended between time and suggestion.
