Sugar paper and oil paints are the materials transformed by Antonio De Luca into pictorial works that go beyond the two-dimensional sphere, becoming an important part of their environment, as they peacefully conquer the surrounding space. The distinctive features of his twenty-year-old work include the presence of faceless female figures, and Nature, observed and portrayed with great attention to detail, studied by the artist on 19th century herbariums. The artist refers to wallcoverings as “expansions”: poetic paintings set with reasoned randomness on the walls, like architectural satellites suspended in the spaces.
